DUSTREC EXCHANGE PROGRAME
As part of the DustRec project, Jasna Kastivnik, a first-year PhD student at the Jožef Štefan Postgraduate School and employed as the head of the laboratory and project manager at TH Re-MINING, participated in an exchange program at the Mechanical Department of Politecnico di Milano in June 2024. During her time there, Jasna gained valuable insights into pyrometallurgical processes for recovering iron from electric arc furnace dust. She also acquired training in mineralogical and chemical characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
In a reciprocal exchange, GianLuca Dall'Osto, a PhD student from the Mechanical Department of Politecnico di Milano, visited Th-remining in August. During his exchange, he explored various characterization methodologies and mineral processing techniques aimed at enhancing the enrichment of both primary and secondary raw materials.
